Bill Edgar    - had a best eclectic score at his home club, Commonwealth, of 37

                 - won the first of his three Victorian Amateur titles in 1927 and, at that stage, was the youngest player to do so

                 - at 50 years of age, defeated Bruce Devlin to win his eighteenth club championship at Commonwealth

                 - at 53 years of age, qualified for The British Open at Troon

                 - between 1927 and 1956 reached the semi finals 8 times and final 3 times, but never won the Australian Amateur title

                 - played exhibition matches against Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen and Bobby Locke
